Information we collect

Depending on how you use CalmCryptoLab, we may collect:

• Username, email address, password credentials and country.
• Account identifiers, creation dates and profile preferences such as an avatar.
• Learning progress, completed lessons, terms and wallet-safety checklists.
• Virtual balances, portfolio values and simulator trade history.
• Competition entries, eligibility, trade counts, rankings and prize results.
• Messages and information you provide when contacting CalmCryptoLab.
• Website usage, approximate location, browser, device and session information.

CalmCryptoLab does not currently ask users to provide their age or date of birth.

How information is collected

Information is collected when you create or use an account, complete learning activities, use the simulator, enter the competition, contact CalmCryptoLab, or browse the website. Some technical and usage information is collected automatically through hosting, security, analytics, cookies and browser storage.

How we use information

• Create, authenticate and maintain user accounts.
• Save learning progress and simulator activity.
• Operate the leaderboard and educational competition.
• Determine eligibility, rankings and prize results.
• Provide support and respond to enquiries.
• Protect the website, prevent misuse and investigate technical problems.
• Understand website usage and improve CalmCryptoLab.
• Meet legal and regulatory obligations.

CalmCryptoLab does not sell users’ personal information.

Public competition information

A participant’s username, country, virtual portfolio value, competition rank and qualification or prize status may be displayed on leaderboards or monthly results pages. Email addresses and passwords are not displayed publicly.

Service providers and overseas processing

CalmCryptoLab uses trusted service providers to operate and protect the website. These currently include Supabase for authentication and database services, Cloudflare for website hosting and security, and Google Analytics for website usage measurement.

These providers may process or store information outside New Zealand. Their handling of information is also governed by their own privacy policies and service terms.

Cookies and browser storage

CalmCryptoLab uses browser storage to support login sessions, remember an email address, save certain preferences and help the website function. Google Analytics may use a first-party cookie, including the _ga cookie, to distinguish browsers and measure users, sessions and website activity.

You can restrict or clear cookies and browser storage through your browser settings, but some account or simulator features may no longer work correctly.

Passwords and account security

Password authentication is processed through Supabase Authentication. CalmCryptoLab does not display or store readable passwords in its website database. Users are responsible for choosing a strong password and keeping their login details secure.

How long information is kept

Account and simulator information may be kept while an account remains active and for as long as reasonably required to operate CalmCryptoLab, maintain security, resolve disputes and meet legal obligations. Historical competition snapshots and results may be retained to preserve accurate competition records.

Information that is no longer reasonably required will be deleted, anonymised or securely retained where continued storage is legally or operationally necessary.

Access, correction and deletion requests

You may ask to access or correct personal information held about you. You may also request account deletion. Self-service account deletion is not currently available, so requests must be sent to CalmCryptoLab by email.

We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. Some records may need to be retained where required for security, legal obligations or the integrity of completed competitions.

Children and younger users

CalmCryptoLab does not currently collect age or date-of-birth information. Younger users have privacy rights, and a parent or legal guardian may contact CalmCryptoLab with a privacy enquiry concerning a younger user. Competition and prize eligibility are governed by the published competition rules.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when CalmCryptoLab’s features, service providers or legal obligations change. The latest version and update date will be published on this page.
